Registered Clinical Counsellor
Jane is an experienced educator and counsellor with a broad range of professional experiences supporting wellness and healthy functioning in individuals and families. She is committed to client-centred practice, in which the therapeutic relationship represents a foundation for growth and in which clients’ inherent strengths and capacities are central in the process of exploring possibilities for change. She has considerable experience working with children, adolescents and their families, and appreciates opportunities to work with women of all ages.
In her work, Jane draws on principles of family systems, narrative, solution-focused and feminist therapies, and uses play therapy techniques and expressive arts when working with children, teens and families. Jane has experience and training in the areas of anxiety, depression, self injury, life transitions, relationship difficulties and trauma associated with abuse, and she currently works with children who have experienced sexual abuse and their non-offending family members.
Jane sits on the Board of Directors of the B.C. Play Therapy Association and is qualified as a Crime Victims’ Assistance therapist. Jane also has an interest in working with individuals and families who struggle with the presence of mental illness in a loved one. She approaches her work with sensitivity, care and compassion and with great respect for the resilience of the human spirit.
