THE HISTORY OF JERICHO
Jericho Counselling has been serving the Lower Mainland since 2001. During the last nine years Jericho has built a reputation for providing high quality, professional counselling services to individuals, couples, and families in Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Surrey, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Richmond, Langley, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Maple Ridge, as well as other communities including Squamish.
Under the leadership of Dawn Schooler, Clinical Director, Jericho continues to emerge as a community clinic that clients trust and recommend to family and friends.
JERICHO COUNSELLORS
The Jericho Counselling team is made up of Professional Counsellors who help individuals, couples, and families who find themselves stuck with problems that don’t seem to be resolved over time or with effort. Our counsellors are skilled and experienced working with a variety of clients including children, youth / teens, and adults of all ages and stages.
These problems may be anything that stand between you and the goals, priorities, and commitments of your life. Too many people believe that counselling isn’t for them because their problems are not serious enough. In fact, you do not need to be completely debilitated by your problem to benefit from counselling. Whether you consider your problem to be big or small, counselling can often be helpful and can also prevent unnecessary suffering that may result from waiting until things get worse.
In working with individuals, Jericho Counsellors strive to establish warm, compassionate, and therapeutic relationships in which the client’s experience is understood, respected, and validated. Our counsellors are trained in a variety of approaches and they are committed to finding solutions and strategies that work for every client that walks through our doors. We do not have a “one size fits all” approach and you can expect that your Counsellor will take the time to get to know you and to build a unique Counselling experience just for you.
Jericho Counsellors are also aware of the significant time and financial commitment that Counselling requires. Our goal is to get you moving towards new solutions and new ways of approaching life as quickly as possible.
GRADUATE INTERN COUNSELLORS
At Jericho you have the option of choosing the services of one of our Registered Clinical Counsellors or our Graduate Intern Counsellor. One of the ways that Jericho is responsive to the needs of the community as well as continuing to contribute to growing the next generation of Professional Counsellors is through our commitment to utilizing the services of Graduate Intern Counsellors.
As part of the final stages of completing a Master of Counselling degree, Graduate students are required to complete a supervised internship with a qualified, accredited supervisor. Dawn Schooler, the Clinical Director at Jericho Counselling oversees the work of all of our Interns.
At Jericho our Graduate Interns are especially selected on the basis of their experience with counselling over and above their current studies. You can rest assured that while you are working with an Intern Counsellor who is just months away from receiving a Graduate degree you are getting the services of an experienced counsellor at a very reasonable hourly rate. Using the services of Graduate Intern Counsellors allows us to offer lower cost counselling services to clients who may not otherwise be able to afford the services of a Professional Counsellor.
