Master of Arts (M.A.)
Registered Clinical Counsellor
Mercedes (she/her) has a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Adler University and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Mercedes believes that we all have an innate drive towards healing and growth. She sees therapy as a great opportunity to develop a more loving, understanding relationship with ourselves and others, and to learn new tools and ways of being. By clarifying our values, developing a deeper understanding of ourselves as well as the systems that impact us, and connecting to community and resources that exist within and outside of ourselves, we are able to live more fulfilling lives.
With a counselling practice rooted in compassion, collaboration, and community, Mercedes integrates different counselling modalities into her work with individuals such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassionate Inquiry, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Narrative Therapy; she also draws from the Gottman Method when working with couples. Regardless of the approach utilized, Mercedes ensures that her practices are trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and holistic; recognizing the mind-body connection. She considers clients’ unique intersections and the oppression and marginalization they may have faced with the aim of providing empowering and affirming care.
Mercedes is passionate about supporting people through grief and loss, terminal and chronic illness, psychedelic integration, substance use and addiction, childhood trauma, domestic violence and abuse, depression, relationship issues, and anxiety. Additionally, Mercedes has her certification in trauma-informed yoga and is happy to incorporate principles and practices of trauma-informed yoga into her counselling work.
Mercedes provides services in English.
