Téa Petrovic
Bachelor of Arts (BA)
Graduate Intern Counsellor
Téa is in her final year of the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. She is a student member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Upon completion of her education, Téa will be pursuing a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) designation with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).
Téa’s personal experiences of motherhood and immigration cemented her belief in the innate human capacity to adapt in response to challenges and persevere through difficulties. She supports clients in uncovering their resilience by fostering a safe, strengths-based exploration of what is most important to them. Utilizing a client-centred, collaborative approach, Téa aims to create a space where clients feel heard and validated. Her work is rooted in non-judgement, compassion, and respect.
Prior to transitioning into the counselling profession, Téa cultivated extensive experience in music education through over a decade of piano and music theory teaching. Working with individuals of different age groups, backgrounds, and abilities has shaped her understanding of the significance of tailoring her approach to fit each client’s unique needs and strengths. In addition, her background in music performance and collaboration as a songwriter has further deepened her appreciation of the emotional and psychological impact of creative expression.
Grounded in person-centered, trauma-informed theoretical frameworks, Téa draws from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and mindfulness therapy. She provides support to individuals who are experiencing anxiety, panic, depression, significant life transitions, relationship conflicts, parenting difficulties, and pre- and post-natal challenges.
Téa provides services in English.
