Graduate Intern Counsellor

Manveer is completing her final year of the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. She is a student member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). Upon completion of her education, Manveer will be pursuing a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) designation with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).

Manveer’s interest in counselling grew from her desire to support individuals through difficult times and her appreciation for the power of being truly heard and understood. Building on a background as a Child and Youth Care Worker, she became particularly interested in looking beyond behaviours to better understand the meaning and emotions underneath them.

Manveer has worked with young people in a variety of settings, including community-based programs, and schools, as well as in hospitals and summer camps supporting children diagnosed with cancer. Through this work, she witnessed the importance of building trusting relationships where individuals feel safe, respected, and heard. Her therapeutic approach involves developing a caring and accepting space where clients can explore their experiences, recognize their strengths, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves.

As a second-generation South Asian, Punjabi-speaking woman, who appreciates the complexities of navigating a bicultural identity, Manveer is also interested in collaborating with those who would like to explore how culture and identity can shape their understanding of themselves and their relationships.

Grounded in a person-centred and trauma-informed framework, Manveer draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and mindfulness approaches. She provides support to teenagers and adults of all ages dealing with issues related to anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship concerns, self-esteem, stress, illness, and medical experiences.

Manveer provides services in English and Punjabi.

Graduate Intern Counsellor, Manveer Sanghera, is accepting new clients from British Columbia on Wednesdays and Saturdays. As a Graduate Intern Counsellor, Manveer will be under the direct supervision of the Director of Intern Operations, along with support from her accredited university.
