Robyn Pitman
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Family Relations and Human Development
Registered Clinical Counsellor
Robyn holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Family Relations and Human Development from the University of Guelph. She is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist with the Canadian Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
Prior to joining Jericho Counselling, Robyn worked as a Registered Psychotherapist in the province of Ontario providing individual, couple, and family therapy since 2010. Robyn’s style is best described as warm, caring, nonjudgmental, and eclectic while taking a collaborative approach with her clients to address the problems they are experiencing in a way that helps them move forward.
Robyn’s approach with her clients is collaborative and strength based. She works with clients to draw upon their own unique resources and abilities to address challenges and promote the changes they want in their lives. Her role is to offer a different perspective and ask thought provoking questions that support clients in creating different or new stories about their lives. She uses a variety of therapeutic techniques (i.e., Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Narrative, and Solution Focused Therapy) that are tailored to her clients and the goals they are working towards. Robyn views therapy as a process in which individuals are no longer happy with the story of their life and therapy provides an opportunity to create a different or new story.
Robyn has experience providing support to youth (13 years +), adults, couples, and families in a range of settings. She comes to Jericho Counselling with a background supporting individuals, couples, and families in areas including relationship concerns, stress, depression, anxiety, parenting issues, life transitions, unexpected changes, low self-esteem, grief and bereavement, recovery from accident/injury, concussion and acquired brain injury, chronic pain, chronic medical conditions, trauma, domestic violence, and abuse.
Robyn provides counselling services in English.
