Graduate Intern Counsellor
Cherry is working towards completing her Master of Education degree in Counselling Psychology (with a focus on Vocational Rehabilitation) at UBC. For nearly 15 years, she has been working in the field of higher education assisting in the recruitment of international students and supporting students through her role as an admissions coordinator and advisor. Through her work with students, alongside her own personal journey, Cherry has come to know the importance of mental health. She acknowledges that life is not easy at times, yet she strongly believes that everyone has the capacity to cope, to change for the better, to move forward, to be resilient.

While Cherry primarily works within a humanistic, person-centred framework, she integrates other therapeutic modalities in her practice such as Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which employs mindfulness-based strategies. She has previously worked with individuals who have anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief and loss, trauma, cultural/personal identity issues, and people who are feeling stuck whether it be in a meaningless job or difficult relationship.
Cherry provides counselling services in English and Tagalog.

Cherry is also available at our Burnaby / Metrotown location and is accepting new client bookings on Saturdays.
