Traditional Psychotherapy and Counselling have most often focused on ‘Feelings First’ which has helped many people and left many others still ‘Feeling’ quite awful and frustrated! Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of talk therapy that is guided by the understanding that feelings are very important AND that feelings are informed by our Thoughts and our Behaviours. We can’t change how we Feel but we can interact with our Thoughts and Behaviours in such a way as to invite different Feelings to emerge.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is the Most Studied form of talk therapy and has been proven to be the Most Effective treatment for Depression and Anxiety. At Jericho Counselling, all of our therapists use CBT as one of their approaches to therapy. Many of our counsellors also use Mindfulness Based CBT which is gaining traction in the field as a way to blend Traditional Cognitive Behavioural ideas with Mindfulness in a way that leads to dramatic improvements in how people struggling with Depression and Anxiety feel, often after just a few visits.

While Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is the treatment of choice for Depression and Anxiety, it is also very helpful for a variety of common problems, including Addiction, Anger Management, Sleep Problems, and Chronic Pain, in addition to many others.
